1 | large sweet onion, sliced into thick rings | ||

1 | can | (8 ounces) tomato sauce | |

|||
10 | green olives, pitted and diced | ||
|
|||
1/2 | teaspoon | chili powder | |
|
|||
1/2 | teaspoon | garlic powder | |
|
|||
2 | tablespoons | instant minced onion or fresh minced onion | |
|
|||
salt and pepper to taste | |||
|
|||
1 1/2 | pounds | ground beef | |
|
|||
4 | slices | cheddar cheese | |
|
|||
4 | hamburger buns, toasted | ||
|
|||
curly lettuce | |||
|
|||
pickled red onion | |||
|
|||
ketchup, optional | |||
|
|||
mustard, optional | |||
|
Cook bacon, absorb excess grease with paper towels and set aside.
Slice sweet onion into thick rings and set aside.
In a small bowl, stir together tomato sauce, olives, chili powder, garlic powder, minced onion, salt and pepper.
Combine mixture with ground beef and form into 4 patties.
Grill or broil patties to desired temperature adding a slice of cheese to each during the last minute. During last 5 minutes, add sweet onion slices to the grill grate and brown on both sides.
Assemble burgers starting with the bottom bun, lettuce, grilled onion, cheese covered burger pattie, lettuce, pickled onion, bacon, and top bun.
